An experienced, qualified, and widely recognised human resources practitioner, employment lawyer and trusted advisor on employment matters with over 30 years in senior executive, consultancy and advisory roles in some of New Zealand’s leading organisations in the private and public sectors, including - Telecom, Westpac, Massey University, Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF - now MPI), the Canterbury Employers Association and Deloitte. 

Alan is a barrister specialising in employment law, an accredited mediator, accredited coach, a member (and certificate-holder) of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AAMINZ).  He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, Masters of Business Administration degree, Certificate in Industrial Relations and has been acknowledged by his peers through the HR Institute of NZ awards of HR Generalist of the Year and HR Person of the Year.   In 2020 he was recognised by international Human Resources Director (HRD) as one of six HR leaders who are "leading change in businesses across New Zealand".

His direct experience in senior executive and governance roles in large, complex organisations together with advising SMEs, means he understands the challenges facing CEOs, business owners, senior leadership teams, and the organisation’s Chief People Officer in relation to their people-related business issues.
